The Japanese national selection has successfully concluded, revealing the talented chefs who will represent the country in the upcoming stages of the international competition.
Among the 24 contestants — divided into sugar (9), chocolate (7), and ice (8) categories — three winners were chosen after an intense competition, held for the first time at the end of July. The participants demonstrated creativity, technical mastery, and an impressive ability to adapt.
All candidates, each with at least five years of professional experience, were invited to push the boundaries of convention and fully express their originality through exceptional creations worthy of representing Japan on the global stage. No common theme was imposed: each participant freely selected a theme that best showcased their expertise while reflecting current trends and challenges with a broad and innovative vision.
The three winners will advance to the Asian continental selections scheduled for 2026. A top ranking in that event will earn them a place in the Grand Finale in France, in January 2027, where they will face the world’s best pastry chefs.
Japan, reigning double world champion after winning the last two Grand Finales, will once again put its crown on the line. The 2025 team will carry the mission of defending this prestigious title and extending the country’s remarkable winning streak on the international stage.
